Duelist difficulty is the most punishing at the early to start of mid game. after that you'll have spent skill points and acquired gear that will make you feel like a beast

i did also get lucky and have a legendary sword drop from a random group of soldiers that was walking down the road in the first hour after the prologue. so that might have helped me

sword hits once while claws has 2 hit combos

I would doubt your ability to do only parry but I remember COE33 so I believe
