2:31:52@AutophobicDestruction I'm thinking of the game Perception. That is a blind horror game, and it's kinda cool. Not perfect, but very interesting concept. And works.
2:32:30Yeah I've never seen live action blended with game environments so well
2:33:14in my opinion, the darkness itself isn't the problem, but when the game is pitch dark outside. It makes me think that the devs have never gone outside at night. The stars and the moon are there, yk
2:33:21Yeah you gotta get people who are going in blind
2:33:45I challenge the dev to beat their game without hacking it
2:33:50:_Rave: I love it when game designer Chio comes out
2:34:35flashbang grenades were truly an artistic choice
2:34:36I wouldn't count that as dumb. I only got that idea randomly too
2:34:57I keep telling her, she needs to be a game designer or at least a tester. Has all the instincts for what works and what doesn't
2:35:04@retko8718 flashbangs in a game with literally less than 10 light sources was a choice :_Laugh:
2:35:20the gameplay loop can't be just clicking a button with 10% chance for death
2:35:24And she can explain her thought process in detail.
2:36:28A flash bang going off in your hand would be a very bad thing
2:36:32@rocvan8190 there's a horror game dev that made a realistic dark forest environment. You can see stuff clear-ish in grayscale in the middle of your screen, but things are super blurry on the sides
2:36:35The hairs detect vibrations so yeah
2:36:53spiders are kinda silly, iunno, they don't get prayed upon by big animals
2:37:13trapdoor spiders literally depend on vibrations to eat :_Huh:
2:37:27"Horror Games get Darkness WRONG, I Fixed it | Devlog"
2:37:29only some spiders, a.k.a jumping spiders get curious enough to investigate
2:37:40@FriskTemmie3 that sounds like a very interesting visual concept. Feel free to share the title of that game
2:37:57Idk the title, but I sent the video title
2:38:11For spiders being absolutely sure your girl is down is a matter of life and death
2:38:17It gets pretty dark when there's no moon present but your eyes do adjust
2:38:35Is 'realistic dark forest enviroment'? I'll check it, thanks
2:38:41only pitch black areas are inside buildings or caves. Anything else and our eyes will adapt to see well enough
2:39:14I might try to make my own horror game one day (not really my genre, but I wanna try), so I'm takin notes, professor Chio!
2:39:28"worst she can say is I'll eat you"
2:39:50@rocvan8190 no, it's "Horror Games get Darkness WRONG, I Fixed it | Devlog"
2:40:06@FriskTemmie3 yeap, and that's why humans feel an instinct fear of caves
2:40:18@FriskTemmie3 OH, got it. Thanks
2:40:56a passion project set loose and abandoned
2:41:08Avoid stinky YT fees by tipping through my Streamlabs link!! TTS on! - https://streamlabs.com/chiochompi/tip
2:41:43the amount of times you experienced a bug with the doors at the end makes me feel like the dev didn't play test it
2:42:02the final door bug not being caught was wild cause it came up in 2/3 attempts at the finale :_Angry:
