If you're in Honey's discord that's the best place for longer form discussions, but if not I can try to answer anything you'd like to know about here

A while ago, I started to draw digitally but found that, while I enjoy doing lineart digitally, I don't really enjoy digital colouring, so I started to do that with coloured pencils.

But my colourings lack plasticity. They feel kinda flat, I also struggle with making the lighting and the shadows feel organic.

that's very valid. While I work entirely traditionally, sometimes after I've finished my line art, if I want to adjust it, I'll scan it, tweak it digitally, then print it back out to colour

Ah right, so the main thing is less specific to your medium and more a matter of understanding light and shadow I think
58:54
First, you could try doing studies, find images that have the depth of lighting you're looking for, and try to reproduce them, while thinking about why the shadows are where they are.

In general, if you're struggling with anything in your process that's observational, working with reference is a good way to approach it

for lighting, a good practice is to imagine a single light source somewhere on the page (you can put a mark on the page to remind you where it is) then look for places that the light cannot touch.

No sorry, I'm mostly offline. But I can create a Discord account soon and share them there. Can I make sure you see 'em?

But for depth, one thing that helps trick the viewer into seeing depth is saturation value. If you use saturated colours for the foreground and muted/less saturated colours for the background elements

Duly noted.:sparkles: Thank you so much! Sorry that my question is so vague, I haven't exactly found my style yet.

If you're struggling with depth, this might be a single, really important thing that you need to fix.
1:08:35
but for light, shadow and depth, the main skill you need to learn is observation, look at real things and think about where the shadows are and why, then apply those rules to your image when colouring
1:09:00
using a reference is the quickest way to develop this, because you can put it into practice before you're confident about what's where.
1:10:14
Once you're more confident with where light/shadows are, the next thing to consider is that light is often not white, and start countershading with colour tones for more difficult lighting effects.

@SocksAndPuppets I'll create a Discord Account tomorrow, if you're in the stream next Saturday as well, I'll share some of my drawings. I'd really appreciate the criticism.

When joining Honey's discord specifically, you'll only be able to see the server rules page when you join, you need to read them carefully to get access to the rest of the server :D
