I have lost my Japanese skills, though I studied up to intermediate level in college. Kinda hard to get back into it again, maybe because I'm already bilingual (English and Tagalog)

vocal fry is like that thing you do at the ends of your sentences where your voice goes a bit croaky (it sounds a bit like something frying)

Yeah, everyone's voice shifts when they switch languages. I find I'm louder and more crass-sounding in Tagalog :_wheezeaxel:

Loll, Japanese also uses different parts of the mouth than English so people tend to sound different speaking both

I think there's ways to sound more vulgar in JP, but Axel doesn't really go that route? Since he's usually in a setting where he has to be polite

NGL, listening to Axel's English made it easier to understand my Aussie boss' vocabulary and humor :_wheezeaxel:

I’m half Japanese and my parents tried to raise me to be bilingual but I cried and gave up on it as a kid because I hated it :woman_facepalming:

Bilingual is harder than it seems. Most Filipinos are ESL, but I started with English and had to work hard to learn Tagalog. Kids used to bully and tease me for not knowing the local language.
