when I was a kid I was only given steak well done. it wasn't until I was an adult that I had a taste of medium rare

You have to start with an actual tender steak and not have it thick cut to have an edible "well done" steak. But most doing it don't know those things.

The only answer as to how he eats it BBR is my Grandmother was a terrible cook and would burn the steak growing up apparently.
