Yeah this game has like the RPG-fication of weapons. Where in lore plasma weapons are basically sacred relics that perform significantly better than everything else, but are only a *little* better.

mmm i'd say its a lot more forgiving than xcom, but if you are playing on unfair difficulty there is a point in the story where the game starts going for your throat every single fight
