yes the more times you see the character, the more limited certain animations will seem because only can end in certain ways

It CAN be reactive, but it's better if you ANTICIPATE it. That's what the mental stack is all about.

it's... a bit of both, you want react to the fact that you did block the move, but the punishment should be more like muscle memory

punishment is all about recognition, it's reactive in a way that you're reacting...you just have to recognize the move before it connects and immediately remember your punish. It takes practice.

A lot of it is about being able to predict what the opponent will do in a certain situation so that you can be prepared to punish it

more advanced thing is that you also react that it whiffed, so you didnt block but they actually does the move, its even more minus than the block frame

nah not predict...just recognize...hence why a lot of players do punishment drills with multiple moves

The body always matters. Fighting games are built on key poses that are readable and recognizable to punish.

in most cases you'll be keeping a few key punishable and common moves of a character and build the memory and knowledge to punish it, the more you can keep in mind the better you get at punishment

I personally look at the characters shoulders and general mid to high torso. Makes throw breaking on reaction a lot easier. ALSO YEA ILL GO SLEEP
